“We are people who normally would not mix.”
Chapter Two, Page 17 Big Book
This is one of my favorite quotes. As an alcoholic in recovery, I am amazed at how picky I am about the people I choose to surround myself by. When I used I would hang out with anybody and everybody, now…. not so much. It’s like a fog has been lifted and I refuse to waste time with people that waste their personal time. I cannot be around drugs and alcohol, nor can I surround myself with individuals that partake in those activities. However, when I used I was surrounded by all kinds of people, in recovery I am surrounded by other people in recovery that I would never mix with normally.
Gratitude Point: I now have the power to choose who I hang with, my disease is no longer in control of my social life.
